Drinking water is essential for life, but most of us don't drink enough.

The benefits of drinking water are endless! Drinking plenty of water can even be a big help in weight control, as it keeps your metabolism working throughout the day, keeps you full, and keeps you from eating unnecessary calories when your body is actually wanting fluids, not food.

Here are some tips on how to drink more water:

#1) Keep a re-usable bottle on you at all times. Treat yourself to a nice, medium-sized bottle that if comfortable to hold and appropriate for anywhere - work, school, the park, the gym - where ever! Refill and sip it throughout the day

#2) Flavor it. If you're bored with plain water, flavor it by adding lemon slices, mint leaves, or frozen berries. Some bottles called "infusers" have a separate compartment for these additions so that you aren't sipping pulp-y water.

#3) Have it ready in the morning. Get your metabolism started early in the morning. Leave a bottle in the fridge for yourself so you can start gulping first thing in the morning (yes, even before you drink your coffee!). Getting started early will help you remember to keep drinking throughout they day.

#4) Mark it! Keep track of how much water you drink, and make it a game. You can compete with yourself or your friends to see who meets their goal.

Important note: Though drinking plenty of water is vital, if you're not going to the restroom to urinate proportional to the amount that you're drinking, you could suffer severe health complications if you hold in your urine. If you're drinking a lot of water, make sure you're visiting the toilet often!
