Nothing compares to getting together on a warm night grilling with friends and family. There’s something about it that is so classic and familiar and, just the thought of it, brings me straight back to my childhood. The summer air, friends and family, and, best of all, the smell of all the incredible food that’s about to be devoured. Although it’s not quite summer yet, I can always pretend! With the warmer air starting to approach, at least here in SoCal, my mind is already racing with the thought of this!
Whenever it is that you decided to plan that first grill of the season, why don’t you switch it up a little. Most people are immediately drawn to chicken and steak, but whatever happened to fish? Not the first choice for many, but you may want to think again when picking up the essentials. And, if you suffer from migraines, there’s even more reason to listen up! Studies have shown, consuming omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the prevalence of migraines for those who have frequent attacks. There are many plant, nut and meat sources sources of omega-3s including:
halibut, salmon, fresh tuna, eggs, yogurt, flaxseed, oatmeal, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, brussels sprouts, kale, spinach, cod liver oil, canola oil & soybean oil
With this many choices, there’s no reason to not get in that extra dose of omega-3s. Since we’re on the topic of grilling, I’ll share with you all one of my favorite (and easy, because we all know that is important too lol) recipe for grilled halibut with salt & vinegar potatoes. Try this one out, and let me know what you think!! :)
