If you’re anything like me, when you experience a headache, you’re desperate for a quick remedy. If the Advil in your medicine cabinet just won’t cut it, it might be time to try a drink made of natural ingredients to soothe your headache*.

*Please note that these remedies may have different effects on the individual and may not work for severe migraine-sufferers.

1.) Sweet and Spice Honey, Ginger Lemon Tea

Ingredients:

Small (1-2 inches long) piece of ginger root (can by in product section)

1 tsbp Honey (local is best!)

1 small lemon

Directions:

Peel outer skin of ginger root with peeler

Peel a small amount of fresh ginger shavings from the root piece

Cut lemon into thin slices

Boil water, enough for 1-2 cups water

Add ginger pieces, lemon, and honey to water

Sip and enjoy!

Note: for a more comfortable sipping experience, put ginger shavings in a loose-leaf tea strainer

2.) Pain-kicker: Skull Cap and Chamomile

Ingredients:

Either skull-cap extract, or dried skull cap herbs (bought at a local health food or herb store)

Chamomile (fresh or bagged)

Directions:

Boil water, enough for 1-2 cups

Place an equal mix of chamomile leaves and skull cap in tea strainer or bag

OR soak chamomile tea bag in water, and add 1-2 droplets of skull-cap extract

Note: Skull cap has a bitter flavor, so it is paired best with a sweet herbal tea

3.) Breathe-easy Butterbur Tea

Ingredients:

~1 tsp butterbur (bought at a local health food or herb store)

Directions:

Soak ButterBur in 1 cup luke-warm water overnight

Boil the mixture

Strain the leafs and drink

Note: Like SkullCap, Butterbur can be bitter so it’s best to add honey or pair with a sweet herbal tea.

4.) Hydrating Pineapple and Coconut Water Slushy (for heat-triggered headaches)

Ingredients:

½ cup diced fresh pineapple

1 cup coconut water

½ cup ice (optional)

Directions:

Blend to desired consistency
