1. Turn Off the Lights and Turn On the Tunes!
I don’t care who you are; there is no better way to relieve your stress than to dim the beams and turn on some soft, relaxing tunes. Migraines make life ten times as difficult as it should be. Be sure to unwind. You deserve it! (BONUS: Run a bath, and get the room smelling like lavender or peppermint. Trust me. It’s tops.)
2. Temperature Tests
An interesting experiment to implement is a temperature test. Migraine pain can dissipate by placing either cold or hot item on your head and neck. An easy way to do this is to grab a sponge or towel and run hot or cold water over the painful areas. This dilates the blood vessels and gets the blood flowing away from the head.
Some migraines are caused simply because of dehydration. Don’t mess around with this! Drink your 8 glasses of water a day!
Omega-3’s are healthy fats that fight inflammation. Flax seeds are a huge source as well as fish, like salmon, and fish oil supplements.
5. Consume Caffeine
In small doses, caffeine has proven to be a force for good. However, too much of a good thing can cause relapses for future migraines. Tread lightly here. Caffeine is a drug, and you do not want to become too dependent on it.
Ahh, the wonders a massage can do! Whether it’s a full-body massage or just a standard temple massage, it can still do wonders to alleviate pain. Make some moves and put some hands to work!
7. Regular Exercise
Get that blood pumping! Staying active is said to be one of the best ways to control and ease migraine pain. It releases endorphins; for some, it even relaxes you!
